John, I’m Ebrima Saidy – the Chief Impact Officer at Save the Children. Ahead of World Food Day tomorrow and as part of our Get Fed Up campaign, I’m reaching out for two important reasons:
The global hunger crisis is threatening the lives and futures of millions of children in every corner of the world – with many on the brink of famine and starvation. I witnessed a terrible reality in Somalia alone: Every child brought into our health facility showed early symptoms of their bodies failing them as a result of severe malnutrition.
When you make a gift today to help us reach our $300,000 World Food Day goal, the impact of your support will be MULTIPLIED 10X thanks to our ability to leverage government grants. But with tomorrow’s deadline quickly approaching, we’re falling short, so I’m personally asking you to rush your support.
The situation on the ground in Somalia makes me angry. I’m angry that women have to walk over 50 miles to bring their malnourished children to the treatment center. I even spoke with a woman who had to choose between her children, as she can only carry one that distance – a choice no parent should have to make.
I’ve worked in Somalia for three years, but with the scale of what I’m witnessing now, we’re potentially nearing the edge of a cliff. There’s no other way to say this: the crisis here is really bad and getting worse hourly. And I know that around the world, millions of children are facing a similar reality.
We cannot afford to fall short of this critical World Food Day goal. By making a gift right now, your impact will go TEN TIMES as far for children facing hunger and other hardships:
