Republicans are already planning out what they’d do with a Congressional majority, and it’s not pretty. According to several GOP sources, if they take back Congress this November, they plan on instigating a debt-ceiling standoff, all with the purpose of forcing cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. They know how unpopular and radical this agenda is, but they’re not going to back down without a fight. Neither are we, John.
Congresswoman Shontel Brown has been hard at work trying to prevent the GOP from getting a head start on their agenda. She is leading a group of 27 members of Congress, urging House and Senate leaders to take action to prevent scheduled Medicare cuts. Congresswoman Brown knows that her constituents and millions more across the nation depend on Medicare to survive. Yet if the GOP takes back the House, our firewall to stop the GOP will be gone.
So far, we’ve successfully prevented these spending cuts due to our Democratic majority in Congress. With midterm elections approaching fast, the window for us to secure another majority and stop the GOP’s planned cuts is closing. Early voting has already started, and voters are returning their ballots. We need all hands on deck if we’re going to defend our majority and prevent cuts to Medicare and Social Security. That includes you, John.
