Dear John,
Today, women up and down the country are being exposed to vile harassment from anti-abortion groups outside clinics. Encounters with these groups leave women feeling intimidated, distressed and, in some cases, too scared to even enter the clinic.
There is a simple solution - the introduction of buffer zones outside abortion clinics that would stop harassment.
On Tuesday, MPs are set to vote on an amendment to the Public Order Bill which would allow women to access abortion care without the threat of intimidation. But if we are going to get enough support in Parliament we need everyone to email their MP now, asking them to support the buffer zones amendment.
Email your MP now, it takes less than 30 seconds ([link removed])
Getting an abortion is, for many women, a deeply personal and private decision. Being targeted by groups who brandish graphic images of foetuses, hand out false medical information, wear body cameras, and follow them down the street is deeply traumatising.
Here’s one women’s account of her experience: “I was approached outside and they were offering money to help ‘keep the baby’. I was very distressed – I had to be consoled by staff in the clinic as I was crying. I didn’t expect this!” – Nottingham, 2022”
The Buffer Zone amendment would introduce areas around abortion clinics and hospitals (buffer zones) where interference with, and intimidation or harassment of, women accessing or people providing abortion services would be an offence. It is desperately needed.
Please email your MP now and tell them to support the amendment. We’ve never been closer to stopping the unjust and cruel harassment of women seeking abortion care. The more of us who get involved, the harder it will be for our MPs to ignore this issue.

Thank you, as always, for your support.
Best wishes,
