This week, we celebrated Indigenous Peoples Day! Our Pueblos and Tribes have thrived and defended their sovereignty and traditions for thousands of years. 

We honor and uplift the communities who have lived here since time immemorial. Communities who care for the land and water, and whose culture and history are forever woven into the story of New Mexico.

Visiting Navajo Nation

I had a wonderful time visiting our Diné communities. As I traveled throughout the Navajo Nation, I heard your priorities for infrastructure, healthcare, water, energy, and so much more. 

Rural health clinics are a lifeline for so many of our communities. I toured Tohatchi Health Center with administrators and staff to learn how we can better serve the community.

I also visited with students and teachers at the Ch'ooshgai and Chi Chil'tah Community Schools!

I believe the little hands of today will lead us into a better tomorrow. Public education empowers our youth and lays the foundation for progress. Visiting schools like Ch'ooshgai and Chi Chil'tah is so important to me as I continue my work to make sure that they have the resources they need. 

Samuel Sandoval served our country valiantly as a Code Talker during WWII. He died at age 98 in July. To honor his memory and service, I presented his wife, Malula, with a token of our gratitude - a Congressional Record and a flag flown over our Capitol in his honor.

The PSLF Waiver Deadline is approaching!

Public Service Loan Forgiveness borrowers may receive credit for past loan payments that wouldn’t otherwise qualify for PSLF. Take advantage by October 31, 2022! For more information on eligibility and requirements, go to PSLF.gov.

One-Time Student Loan Debt Relief 

Thanks to debt relief, borrowers in our congressional district will see their monthly student loan payments reduced by 50 percent on average.
