This week, it was announced that inflation increased even more than anticipated in September, hitting 8.2%. This is the direct result of Speaker Pelosi and President Biden spending trillions of dollars we don’t have. The cost of goods that Iowa families buy every time they’re at the grocery store are way up. We are all feeling it.

Eggs are up 30.5%

Flour is up 24.2%

Canned fruits and vegetables are up 19.0%

Peanut butter is up 18.1%

Potatoes are up 17.5%

Chicken is up 17.2%

Milk is up 15.2%

Cereal is up 16.6%

Bread is up 14.7%

Iowans are struggling to make ends meet – when I’m out meeting Iowans across our district, I hear about how they are working hard but still just scraping by and are stressed out about stretching their paycheck through the month. I will continue to be a check on the Biden-Pelosi agenda. We need to curb government spending and unleash American energy to reduce costs and give Iowans much-needed relief.

It was great to be back out on the road in our district yesterday in Jackson and Jones Counties to kick off our eighth twenty-county tour!

I enjoyed touring Eagle View Farms in Anamosa. We discussed priorities for the upcoming farm bill, the need to push back on government overregulation, and how we can lower input prices for our farmers. Thanks for being such great hosts and taking the time to show me around!

Next, I held a roundtable with the Jackson County Veterans Affairs Commission and the County VA Director. We had a productive conversation about veterans' mental health, ways we can improve care at the VA, and addressing backlog and staffing issues at the VA. I am grateful for their service to our country and continued work supporting veterans in our community. I will always work across the aisle to ensure our veterans receive the care they have earned.

I am appalled that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has opened a police station in New York City - this should have never been allowed to happen, and Americans deserve answers from the Biden Administration. I joined my colleagues in asking the Biden Administration to provide an explanation and assurances that the CCP's illegal police operation would be shut down immediately.

This week, Liberty Recovery Community in Dubuque opened their doors and my team attended their grand opening ceremony. They provide critical recovery programs to help participants transition back into the community after treatment.
