Here’s your daily reminder that the midterm elections are coming up (in 25 days)!

And here’s another reminder that immigrants WILL have a big impact on the elections—even if they aren’t old enough to vote! According to a new study, immigrant youth are increasingly using social media to educate others about social and political topics (including with their family at the dinner table), hold politicians accountable, and provide their followers with opportunities to take action through political movements such as Fridays for Future and Black Lives Matter. We love to see it!

It has been a few days since audio was leaked of three Los Angeles City Councilmembers making racist and other crude remarks last year, and the fallout is still continuing. And while former Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez and Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Ron Herrera resigned, Councilmembers Kevin De León and Gil Cedillo have ignored their communities' calls to resign. Meanwhile, other Latino elected officials, among many others across the country, have spoken out, condemning racism and colorism in the Latino community and recommitting themselves to collective liberation work. But the work can’t stop there.

We can and must change the face of leadership in Los Angeles and all across the U.S. by electing a new generation of leaders who will do away with the anti-Blackness, colonialism, anti-Indigenous colorism, and systemic white supremacy that has no place in our country or democracy today.

A federal judge in Texas ruled that he would—for now—allow DACA recipients to continue renewing their two-year protections from deportation and work permits. However, he also said that he will continue to prohibit the government from approving new DACA requests.

The fight continues. Text HOME IS HERE to 877-877 or sign up with United We Dream to learn how you can use your voice to show up for immigrant communities.
