My work in TX-31 and Congress   Dear Texan, I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on what’s happening in the U.S. House and Texas’ 31st district. ON THE DOCKET: Williamson County Safety Initiatives 2022 Congressional App Challenge A Future that's Free We moved! THE BRIEF: Grocery prices in September were up 13% from a year ago, with goods such as flour, cookies, turkey, and canned fruits and vegetables all rising by the most ever. Children ages 8-18 years old now spend 7.5 hours per day on average in front of a screen. Republicans have a plan to keep kids safer online. U.S. life expectancy has decreased for two straight years, representing the biggest drop since 1943. Congressman Carter met with local law enforcement leaders to discuss safety initiatives in Williamson County. WILLIAMSON COUNTY SAFETY INITIATIVES I met with Hutto Police Chief Jeff Yarbrough and Williamson County Sheriff Mike Gleason to discuss Williamson County safety initiatives. We discussed programs in Williamson County that increase communication between agencies to improve public safety and the potential of expanding these programs across the nation. I am thankful for our law enforcement officers’ dedication to our community! 2022 CONGRESSIONAL APP CHALLENGE The Congressional App Challenge is an academic competition promoting science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). This competition encourages middle and high school students to learn how to code by creating an original app. The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2022, at 12:00PM. Learn more here.
