I had to write to you after receiving a shocking update on my race that will decide Senate control. A new FiveThirtyEight analysis from Nate Silver himself says Nevada is Republicans' "most likely pickup opportunity" and that our race is "as close to 50/50 odds as it gets." If the GOP ends up flipping this seat per Nate Silver's prediction, Democrats will not hold the Senate.

To make matters worse, a Koch-linked super PAC announced it is pouring $11 million into attack ads against me. This spending against me is unprecedented – and right now, I'm concerned the odds are stacked against us.

Republicans are going all in to defeat me because it's their best chance at taking back control of the Senate – so to fight back, I'm doing something drastic.

After consulting with my team, I made a decision to launch our biggest grassroots fundraising goal yet to fight these unprecedented attacks: Raise $600,000. It's the bold surge in resources we need to defend this seat – and thankfully, a group of donors is triple-matching every dollar that comes in to get us to this goal. So please, I need you to give $5 and have every dollar TRIPLED right now to help me keep this seat blue. Hitting this goal, with all I'm up against, is instrumental to protecting Democratic control of the Senate.

I need you to understand why we're taking such a drastic measure and setting such an ambitious grassroots fundraising goal. Firstly, thanks to all this GOP spending to defeat me, experts at The New York Times, CNN, and The Cook Political Report now say I am the most vulnerable senator on the ballot, and polling shows me 1 point down to my opponent, Adam Laxalt (R).

But more importantly, it's because I've seen firsthand what the Senate is like with Mitch McConnell in charge: a graveyard of progress and a hall of obstruction. I do not want our race to be the reason McConnell and my Trump-endorsed opponent get their hands on Senate control.

Even as the GOP's no. 1 target, I remain hopeful – and it's because I've been here before. In 2016, we overcame more than $50 million in spending to win by just 2 points. We did it with people like you, friend – people donating $10, $20, $50 at a time by the thousands to counter McConnell's megadonor money.

I need your help to do it again, which is why we must raise this $600,000. Remember, whatever you give will go three times as far when a group of donors triple-matches it. So donate $5 or whatever you can to protect this seat and our Democratic Senate majority.
