Joe Biden pardons marijuana convictions, fulfilling the Dank Brandon prophecy.

While President Biden may not be joining us at Dead & Company concerts anytime soon (btw: consider this is your formal invitation, Joe. Bring Jill.), the administration made a huge step towards legalizing marijuana by pardoning those who were convicted for possession under federal law.

Please celebrate this monumental moment in history by pretending it’s 4/20, watching your favorite Seth Rogen movie, and prank-calling Mitch McConnell. Maybe send some brownies to the RNC while you’re at it.

A new poll by Data for Progress finds 72% of voters support Biden’s pardons. This includes 88% of Democrats, 74% of Independents, and 55% of Republicans.

These are some very lit numbers. (We’re sorry.)

Data for Progress also finds 66% of voters support going a step further than the administration’s executive action and legalizing marijuana at the federal level for all adults over the age of 21. This includes 78% of Democrats, 68% of Independents, and 52% of Republicans.

Babe, wake up. Better indoor air quality just dropped.

Okay, not quite yet. You can go back to sleep. But like George R.R. Martin and Game of Thrones, we’re working on it!!

Really, who could say that they don’t love improved indoor air quality? It helps reduce person-to-person transmission of Covid-19, mitigates the danger high-risk Americans face, and lessens the possibility of respiratory illnesses for everyone.

According to new polling from Data for Progress, 74% of Americans support federal action to make schools and workplaces safer through improved indoor quality. This includes 86% of Democrats, 74% of Independents, and 62% of Republicans.

Clearly, the majority of voters are in favor of passing federal legislation to improve indoor air quality. However, in the Upside Down, also known as OANN and Newsmax, they’re apparently not totally convinced that people have the right to breathe clean air. Data for Progress finds only 27% of OANN/Newsmax viewers support air quality safety certifications for public buildings. However, 42% of Republicans and 52% of likely voters support this proposal.

So OANN/Newsmax producers, if this is the narrative you want to push, by all means continue working in your dusty studio. Who are we to stop you? We didn’t realize that Pig-Pen from Peanuts was a MAGA extremist and that's on us. Meanwhile, the rest of America will be chilling with our quality indoor air, thank you very much.

Voters are in favor of investigating the death of Journalist Shireen Abu Alkeh.

Shireen Abu Alkeh’s was tragically killed in May while covering Israeli military raids in the West Bank. After the Irsraeli military launched a preliminary investigation, they admitted there is a high likelihood that an Israeli soldier hit her by mistake.

In response, lawmakers in Congress introduced an amendment that would require the FBI and State Department to investigate Abu Alkeh’s death.

A poll ([link removed]) by Data for Progress finds 71% of voters support investigating Abu Akleh’s death, including 80% of Democrats, 64% of Independents, and 66% of Republicans.

Shireen Abu Akleh was a journalist simply doing her job and it’s crucial that a full investigation is properly conducted.

Dems Deliver

Last week on Dems Deliver, we explored the beautiful Outer Banks in North Carolina, where teens played by 30-year-olds solve murder mysteries while modeling a Free People categlogue. Today we take you slightly south to the other Carolina, the very creatively named South Carolina.

Do we need two Carolinas? Probably not. Apparently, Carolina was split into two states because the colony was too big to manage on its own. While we’re not here to bully the 1712 government of Carolina, besties, we do have a bone to pick in that you have forced us to deal with Trump’s most loyal lap dog, Lindsey Graham, who The Atlantic accurately called one of the “most pathetic men in America ([link removed]) .”

People of South Carolina, you shouldn’t have to suffer through the whimsies of this invertebrate. You can vote for Democrats! In fact, the Democrats are already looking out for you! Through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, South Carolina will receive $21 million for five projects that will enhance the state's water infrastructure for commercial and recreational uses

These projects include $12,650,000 to improve the conditions of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, $456,000 to design the station sump platform and access ladder in the Cooper River Redivision, and $99,000 for aquatic ecosystem restoration in Dorchester Polk Swamp. $6,130,000 of the funds will go towards the Murrells Inlet Navigation project for dredging and surveys and $2 million will be used to serve fishing and recreation vehicles in Town Creek. You can learn more about the projects here ([link removed]) .

So, the next time you have the misfortune of looking at Lindsey Graham, remind yourself of the incredible infrastructure projects the Democrats championed. Meanwhile, Lindsey was way too busy picking up Trump’s laundry to worry about South Carolina waterways.
