*Media Advisory: EGLE, DWSD celebrate Detroit?s lead service line replacement program and progress on $40M stormwater project*
*What:* In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act and new funding for water infrastructure, Director of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Liesl Clark is visiting projects across the State of Michigan designed to improve water quality for Michiganders. DWSD will use $75M in federal funding authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act to move from replacing 700 lead service lines annually to at least 5,000. ?
They will also visit a $40M Detroit Water and Sewerage Department [ [link removed] ] project that will keep 172 million gallons out of the combined sewer system, reducing basement backs. During a tour, media will have opportunity to see construction of the south basin in Rouge Park.
A tour of the Rouge Park project will be followed by a new conference with state and local officials and a viewing of the Beaverland Street lead service line project several blocks away.
