Dear John,
I have great news! This week, the U.S. Treasury announced that the ruling to end the “family glitch” in the Affordable Care Act has been finalized.
The “family glitch” resulted in some Minnesota families paying nearly a quarter of their household income on premiums due to a longstanding gap in eligibility for the Affordable Care Act's marketplace coverage.
I heard directly from families in my district who faced barriers to accessing affordable health care because of this glitch and I took action, introducing legislation and calling on the Administration to fix this mistake. In April, that call was answered by an executive order from President Biden beginning the process to ditch the glitch – which the Treasury has now finalized.
I am proud to make a difference in the lives of Minnesota families, and I cannot wait for this action to bring down health care costs and expand access to affordable health care for 62,000 Minnesotans.
Here are some other highlights from this week:
Protecting Our Care
Since I first came to Congress, one of my biggest priorities has been to lower the cost of health care, which is why I was glad to join Protect Our Care this week to spread the word about what we’ve accomplished.
Recognizing Family Farmers
This Wednesday was National Farmers Day! I am fiercely proud of my work on the House Ag Committee to advocate for Minnesota family farmers, and I remain committed to connecting with those farmers to best understand their priorities.
Feeling Pride
This Tuesday was National Coming Out Day. My wife and I are proud of our amazing, beautiful and growing family!
Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:
This week’s behind the scenes is especially meaningful to me. This is a copy of the Executive Order to end the "family glitch." I had the honor of attending the signing ceremony back in April and was given a copy of the order that is now on display in my DC office.
Before signing off this week, I just wanted to let you know that Medicare Open Enrollment starts on October 15th. If you’re eligible, be sure you sign up! I hope you have a great weekend.
Until next time,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
