The day after I launched my campaign for House District 38, Governor DeSantis signed into law the most extreme anti-abortion bill in our state’s history. If anything, this attack on our reproductive freedom only further strengthened my resolve to run for office.
Ruth’s List was the very first organization to endorse my campaign. They were there to help me assemble a campaign team, they were there to help me develop a fundraising strategy, and they were there to help me prepare for debates and interviews. In fact, the Ruth’s List team has been there every step of the way.
I never imagined as a first-time candidate I would receive this level of support. But that’s what Ruth’s List does. They make it possible for women to enter public service, because they know the only way we’ll change the course of Florida politics is by building the bench of Democratic pro-choice women leaders starting at the most local levels of government. And they know what it takes for women to run inspiring campaigns that win.
The stakes in this election couldn’t be higher. My GOP opponent, David Smith, co-sponsored legislation to ban abortion at 15 weeks, and there’s no doubt he’ll be first in line to vote for a total abortion ban with no exceptions.
And friend, I’m not the only one with an opponent like David Smith.
All across our state, Democratic pro-choice women are running to defeat radical, anti-choice Republicans because we know the fight for reproductive rights is coming to the state legislature, and we know that we can win the fight with your support!
