John:

After an – ahem – eventful spring, the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court recently kicked off their fall session. And two of the cases they’re hearing could have an enormous impact on the future of our democracy.

“You cannot look at these cases objectively, without acknowledging the fact that taken together, they could determine whether or not the United States remains as the democracy that we have come to love.” – A.G. Holder

One of the cases, Merrill v. Milligan, has to do with the Republican-drawn congressional map in Alabama, which a lower court determined diluted the power of minority voters.

“This case should be an easy one for the Supreme Court to decide… Our nation is experiencing the greatest attack on the right to vote since the Jim Crow era and improperly drawn maps continue to diminish and dilute the voting power of communities of color.” – A.G. Holder

John, we don’t know how SCOTUS will rule. We only know that we will continue fighting for voting rights, fair maps, and democracy – this year and into the future. Will you help us do that? This is a grassroots movement and we’re counting on you.
