Foxx Report

America has always been built upon freedom, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Freedom is the lifeblood of our Republic – a beacon of hope that the rest of world continues to turn its gaze towards. But if we do not work both to safeguard and preserve freedom, as well as thwart the numerous attacks that are launched against it, then the foundation of our country will surely wear away and inevitably crumble. We cannot allow that to happen.

Republicans very much understand this threat, and what it means for generations of Americans to come. That’s why we’re taking a stand and offering solutions to ensure a future that’s built on freedom. One pillar of our plan that I must call to your attention is making sure every student can succeed and that parents are given a voice. I’m proud to help lead this effort in the People’s House, and I firmly believe it is one that you deserve to know about.

Under one-party rule in Washington, the political agendas of teachers unions have been placed above the needs of children, and as a result, children have been falling behind in their education and have been forced to learn in front of screens for months on end. Further, concerned parents at schoolboard meetings across the country have been vilified and labeled as domestic terrorists by the Department of Justice. To claim that parents are akin to domestic terrorists just because they don’t agree with the left’s agenda is beyond the pale. We cannot let our fundamental rights be stripped from us, especially the right to raise our children.

Our plan to put students and parents first is simple:

  • Advance the Parents Bill of Rights.
  • Recover lost learning from school closures.
  • Expand parental choice so more than a million more students can receive the education their parents know is best.

I highly encourage you to read our plan to ensure a future that’s built on freedom and the commonsense solutions we will put forward on day one to get the country moving in the right direction.

ICYMI: Calling Out OSHA’s Union Event

Recently, Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Republican Leader Richard Burr (R-NC) joined me in sending a letter to Department of Labor Secretary Marty Walsh expressing concern over the “Workers’ Voice Summit” hosted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The event, held close to election day for union officials and other political allies, excluded employer groups and amounted to a “pep rally” for the Biden administration and Democrats on the taxpayer’s dime. One of the main objectives of the Summit was to ‘strengthen existing ties between the department and labor unions, [and] worker centers’ among other entities. It is hard to imagine a need for OSHA to strengthen its ties with labor unions.

New Scam Alert

Following the storms that have recently moved through North Carolina, roofing scams continue to crop up across the state. In these scams, shady operators posing as businesses that operate in good faith will target specific neighborhoods that have recently been hit by severe weather and approach homeowners with offers of cheap services to repair rooftops that may not even be damaged. The Better Business Bureau of North Carolina warns that these scams are costly and can be avoided by simply contacting your insurance company and having an inspection from a verified roofing repair business take place.
