Travel update in Nottingham 14 October - 21 October

🚨Disruption expected🚨

Driving into Nottingham this weekend?

Cadent are carrying out essential gasworks from this weekend (15/16 October) which will close one lane and affect traffic heading into Nottingham via London Road - please be aware and allow more time for your journey.

The works are to replace a gas pipe running underneath London Road. Read about it on Cadent's website here.

Outbound lane closure on London Road incorporating Station Street for GAS mains replacement works

Wednesday 5 October - Wednesday 26 October: Ridgeway - junction Flaxton Way and junction Old Farm Road to outside Tesco Delivery Entrance
Three way and two way lights to lay fibre cabling in the footway and carriageway

Monday 10 October - Wednesday 26 October: Frinton Road between Alwyn Road & Shipley Road
Road closure and no stopping for footway and carriageway resurfacing works (local diversion in place)

Tuesday 11 October - Monday 17 October: Outside 94 Hucknall Road
Coned off Sherbrooke Road opposite Ebury Road for Western Power Distribution works

Tuesday 11 October - Friday 28 October: Eltham Drive between Broxtowe lane & Amesbury Circus
Road closure and no stopping for footway and carriageway resurfacing works (local diversion in place) 

Tuesday 11 October - Monday 31 October: Radford Road outside the new PDSA & Isandula Road
Two way lights for construction of new refuge islands with footway works to improve pedestrian connections 

Thursday 13 October - Tuesday 18 October: Outside 512-514 Berridge Road
Three way lights for Severn Trent Water works 

Friday 14 October - Thursday 20 October: Wollaton Road between 180 & the Garage on Crown Island
Lane closure for National Grid/Western Power works

Temporary traffic lights for demolition works

Three way lights for City Fibre works

Road closure and no stopping 8am-5pm for footway and carriageway resurfacing works

Wednesday 19 October 9.30am-3.30pm: Wilford Grove, Junction with Felton Road
Three way lights and two pedestrian crossings for minor non-excavation works 

Wednesday 19 October - Tuesday 1 November: Stoneleigh Street between Raleigh Street & Portland Road
Road closure and no stopping for footway and carriageway resurfacing works

Thursday 20 October - Monday 24 October: Coventry Road outside Fast Hands
Multiway lights for laying of new fibre across the carriageway works

Friday 21 October - Friday 4 November: Sandhurst Road junction with Hucknall Lane
No left turn from Sandhurst Road into Hucknall Lane for laying of new fibre cables

Ongoing roadworks

Friday 23 July 2021 - May 2023: High Cross Street (city centre)
Road closure between Heathcoat Street and Western Street due to demolition works.

Monday 9 May 2022 - 31 March 2023: Hucknall Road improvements
Construction of new cycle route between Kersall Drive & Bestwood Road. 

A52 Nottingham junctions (National Highways) End date: 2023/24
National Highways have identified junctions for improvement, see here.

Since Silverdale junction opened Sept 2022 National Highways identified an issue with trafic signals. The issue will be resolved overnight on Monday 17 October 2022, see here.

Colwick Country Park Access Improvements

The scheme includes a new multiuser path adjacent to Racecourse Road; on an existing informal path through the park to improve pedestrian and cyclist access from the west and widening/resurfacing of the existing paths around the southern and eastern edge of the West Lake.

The park will remain open during construction and the works will be delivered in phases to minimise impacts to users. Work commenced Tuesday 20 September and is expected to last 18 weeks.

UPDATE: From Wednesday 19 October the bridle path into Colwick Country Park from Racecourse Road will be closed to the public to allow essential re-surfacing improvements to be carried out. During the works please use the following alternative routes into the park from Racecourse Road:

  1. Via the footpath off Racecourse Road, adjacent to St John’s Church which goes behind Colwick Hall and runs alongside Colwick Lake – see alternative route 1 on the map
  2. Via the footpath from the Racecourse Road Car Park – see alternative route 2 on the map

Bus services🚌

Trentbarton resumed operation bus services from Broad Marsh Bus Station from Monday 3 October! 

Services serving the bus station will be: 

  • Bay 8 – mainline

  • Bay 6 – the cotgrave
  • Bay 5 – the keyworth
  • Bay 4 – Kinchbus 9
  • Bay 3 – skylink express

Strikes have been called by UNITE union on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 October affecting East Midlands Railway services only.

East Midlands Railway: There are a number of minor service disruptions & changed train times across the EMR network over the next few weeks due to engineering works. The disruption will mostly affect early or late trains.
