Top 10 Moments of Hope in 2019
In a year with unimaginable violence driven by hate, humanity prevails as people come together, inspiration transcends darkness, and communities find hope. A Muslim woman jumps to the defense of Jewish children facing anti-Semitic harassment on a London subway. A letter-writing campaign gives hope to immigrant detainees facing deportation. Utah passes landmark hate crimes legislation. These are just a few of the moments of hope that made headlines in 2019.

Top 10 Moments of Hate of 2019
Hate-fueled mass shootings horrifyingly make up half of our 2019 Top Ten Incidents of Hate List. Three of the shootings took place in houses of worship: two synagogues, and two mosques. One of those shootings was on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur. Three perpetrators were white supremacists, two are believed to have ties to an anti-Semitic sect of the Black Hebrew Israelite movement. Two shootings were overseas, three of them spanned both coasts of the U.S. Hate spread across the political, racial, economic, and international divide. Virginia Elementary School Students Share Video of Kindness and Inclusion
Minnieville Elementary School, located in Woodbridge, Virginia, is participating in the No Place for Hate program for the second consecutive year. This year they have been using children's literature to excite and engage students to learn and celebrate diversity, empathy and inclusion. You can truly see and hear the impact these activities are having in their community.
