Poll after poll after poll are showing races, up and down the ballot, from U.S. Senate and governor, to attorney general and state legislature, getting tighter. So many of these races could be decided by just a handful of votes.

We can have a real impact in these races, but we need to be smart and diligent about getting out the vote. Daily Kos has a goal to recruit 75,000 volunteers that will connect with millions of likely-Democratic voters whose votes could decide the outcome of many races across the country. Unfortunately, too many voters are facing new barriers to cast their ballots in the midterm election. After the 2020 elections, state Republicans in red states were busy passing laws that make it harder for people to cast their ballots. Since the beginning of 2021, lawmakers in 21 states have passed 42 laws restricting voting access.

What's more, Republicans are recruiting over 50,000 volunteers to police who and how people cast their vote. Really, this is nothing more than voter intimidation, further disenfranchising voters. Daily Kos and our partners are actively working to counter this by recruiting volunteers that will ensure voters are not unfairly turned away and can have their voices heard.

Daily Kos is more than two-thirds of the way to our goal of 75,000 GOTV volunteers. Our volunteers are already doing the important work of connecting with voters by writing letters and postcards to key voters, knocking on doors, signing up for phonebanking shifts and, as mentioned, training to become poll workers. This all costs us real money to run these programs.
