Join the Maine Forest Service for an hour discussion focusing on Christmas tree and wreath brush harvesting laws.? Attendees will learn about Maine Forest Service?s role with regulating Christmas tree and wreath brush harvesting, how to harvest wreath brush responsibly, how to obtain permission from landowners, and what landowners can do if there is property abuse.?

Forest Health Woods Walk ? Lamoine

Forest Health and Monitoring Director Allison Kanoti will lead a walk-through Maine Woodland Owners' Coleman Mixed Woods property in Lamoine on Sunday, October 16, starting at 3 pm. Topics will include browntail moth recognition and management; pests of red pine, balsam fir, hemlock, beech and ash; as well as other things we observe on our walk. Be prepared for uneven footing, weather, and a walk. In the event of severe weather, the walk will be postponed to the following Sunday. Check the?town of Lamoine's Facebook page?for event updates.

Forestry Workshop Notice: BMPs to Protect Water Quality on Haul Roads and Skid Trails

This workshop is designed for foresters and loggers and includes indoor presentations and an outdoor session. The workshop will focus on the Fundamental BMPs with an emphasis on controlling the flow of water and minimizing/stabilizing exposed mineral soil.? The content was developed by the Maine Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the Maine Forest Service as a level one BMP training.? The workshop is being offered at three locations during October of 2022 including? Scarborough and Jefferson.
