Hey John
*****************
We hope you're staying safe this week and haven't been caught
up in the weather! We've been hit pretty hard here in Tassie, so
we're doing the opposite of a rain dance and hoping for the water
levels to go down soon.
Did you also hear the news that Labor are sticking firm on the
stage 3 tax cuts? We're fuming. It's unfair, irresponsible and
expensive. The tax cuts have gotta go

Thank you to our emergency services
***********************************
Well, the last 24 hours in Tassie have been pretty bleak. And
we’re not out of the woods yet. We’ve had several evacuate now
alerts right across the state. My heart especially goes out to
the people of Latrobe and other areas hit really badly in the
2016 floods. Some places have only just gotten back on their feet
since then, and now they’re facing this again.
I want to say a massive, massive thank you to all the emergency
services making sure everyone is safe - SES, Police, Fire
Service, volunteers and anyone I’ve missed. I know you guys have
worked through the night, and potentially put yourself in harm's
way, to make sure everyone is okay. Stay safe out there everyone,
follow the advice and we'll get through this.

Community spirit will get us through this
*****************************************
To anyone in flood affected areas reading this right now - I hope
you’re safe, I hope you’re okay. It’s been a really hard couple
of days in Tassie, and we’re not quite sure of the full impact of
the flooding yet. My heart goes out to people like Wings Wildlife
Park, who’ll be closed indefinitely while they assess the damage
and see what comes next.
But in times like this, the community really pulls together and
it reminds me of why I’m proud to call this patch home. I’ve seen
people on social media offer up their homes for shelter to anyone
evacuating. People paying out of their own pockets to buy
sandbags - not just for themselves, but for neighbours and fellow
businesses. The situation is pretty horrible. But I know that as
a community, we can come back from this bigger and better. We’ve
done it before and we’ll do it again.

Do you have our back?

The major parties take millions of dollars in donations to push
their party line.
We want to hold them to account, but it's a bit of a David and
Goliath battle. We're fighting with our backs against the wall,
and could use some back-up

DONATE → ( [link removed] )Can you chip
in a few bucks? A few dollars could make all the difference - we
make every cent count.

Headspace Day
On the 5th of October, it was headspace Day. This year’s theme
was pause, reflect, and reconnect. If you aren’t in the right
headspace, then call headspace.

Pitstop between meetings
In between meetings, Jac and Tam had a quick pitstop for some
fries. Jacqui should’ve got her own, though. She kept pinching
Tam's!

Goodbye (for two weeks anyway)
******************************
Thanks for all the love you're sending to us in Tassie right now.
Remember if you're in a flood affected area - Tassie or elsewhere
- please listen to advice, don't try to travel through flood
water, and stay safe.
We'll be back in two weeks to give you all the information on the
Labor Government's first Budget. In the meantime, Tam's just
hoping she'll be able to have some fries to herself.
Lots of love,
Jacqui and Tam!
