I won’t lie to you, folks -- I’m disgusted by what’s happening.
The Voting Rights Act of 1965 is being threatened again by the radical far-right, and Black voters all over the country could have their voting power diluted even further.
In opening arguments before the Supreme Court, the state of Alabama asserted it has the authority to completely bypass the federal Voting Rights Act. And if the Court agrees, this would give every state in the country free reign to draw congressional maps that overtly favor white voters over voters of color.
Let’s call it what it is: blatant racism.
If these extremists get their way, they could completely demolish the last line of defense for voting rights and put laws in place that would disenfranchise voters of color even further.
Millions of Americans’ voting rights are being threatened, and I refuse to let our rights be chipped away without a fight.
Will you rush a $10 donation right now to help me fight for our sacred right to vote?
Thank you,
Congresswoman Terri Sewell
