Hi John,
News was breaking this morning that a federal court judge in Winston-Salem will block the State of North Carolina from requiring a photo-identification to be allowed to vote.
This is a victory for voting rights advocates. The case brought by the NAACP now ends up in the lap of the state Attorney General who must decide how to proceed with an appeal on the law’s constitutionality.
The entire measure has been a Republican driven effort to suppress voter involvement and turnout in our elections. The right to vote is a constitutional freedom and all steps must be taken to preserve those rights to each and every citizen.
We need to enter into 2020 knowing that every citizen will be granted the right to vote and that their vote will be counted, respected and upheld by the rule of law.
As a candidate for Lt. Governor, I want to be sure your thoughts and concerns are being heard. Will you help me serve you better by answering 5 quick questions regarding voter ID?
