From Starbucks to John Deere, there has been a massive uptick in unionization efforts across iconic American brands.
In just the first six months of this year, 1,411 U.S. workplaces filed union petitions with the National Labor Relations Board – the first step in forming a union. That’s a 69% increase from the same time period last year.
But while Americans fight for better wages, better benefits, and pay equity, corporations are working hard to crush their momentum. That’s why Civic Action is calling on the Senate to pass the Protect the Right to Organize Act (PRO Act), which would make several common union-busting tactics illegal.

If you believe that unions are an essential tool for American workers, will you join our fight to protect our right to unionize? Sign our petition now: Call on the Senate to pass the PRO Act.

In an economy in which corporate CEOs have nearly all the power, unions are an essential protection that allow workers to band together and demand proper treatment. Studies show that union workers earn 10.2% more than nonunion workers – and unions mitigate racial and gender pay inequities. Moreover, CEOs aren't the real job creators – ordinary Americans are, and it's vital that they have more money to spend in their communities.
That’s why it’s so important that we pass the PRO Act to prevent corporations from crushing unionization efforts. The law would prohibit employers from permanently replacing striking workers, get rid of so-called “right to work” laws that make it nearly impossible to form unions, fine companies for violating workers’ rights, allow undocumented workers to unionize, and so much more.
As millions of American workers attempt to unionize their workplaces, this is a watershed moment for the labor rights movement – and we urgently need to pass the PRO Act to empower workers across the country. But this bill is facing an uphill battle in the Senate, so we’re drumming up as much public support for it as possible – and we need your help.

Sign the petition now: Tell the Senate to stand with American workers by passing the PRO Act now.
