Free pumpkins for kids

The Pumpkin Pick-Up takes place on Sunday, Oct. 16 from noon to 3 p.m. at Venue 1012. Children are encouraged to dress in costume and select a free pumpkin on Sunday, Oct. 16 from noon to 3 p.m. Children (and adults) are encouraged to come in costume and snap photos with colorful fall displays and pumpkins. 

First come, first served. Limited to one pumpkin per child. 500 pumpkins will be distributed until 3 p.m. or until they run out. Oswego residents only--proof of residency required.


Avoid identity theft by shredding documents Oct. 15

Bring old receipts, bank statements and credit card applications to Public Works on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a free shred event hosted the Police Department and First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO).

Boxes of paper will be accepted until the shred trucks are full, or 1 p.m., whichever comes first. A maximum of three large file boxes are allowed per vehicle. Learn more. 


Leaf collection starts next week

Free curbside leaf collection will start Monday, Oct. 17 in Zone A and B, and October 24 in Zone C. Check the map to find your leaf collection zone. 

Place leaves in piles on the parkway grass near the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday of your specified collection week. Keep all leaves off the curb and street to prevent hazardous driving conditions and street flooding. Do not place brush, grass clippings, tree limbs, vines and trash in the leaf piles.

General Election information

Here are some important dates and information for the General Election.

Early voting starts on Monday, Oct. 24 at Village Hall. Voting is available from Oct. 24 to Nov. 3, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; closed Sunday.

Early voting continues through Monday, Nov.7 at the Kendall County Government Building, 111 Fox Street, Yorkville.

Polls will be open on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Oct. 22 Police & Fire open house

Meet your firefighters and police officers at the Oswego Public Safety Campus open house on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bring the whole family to tour the stations, get fingerprinted, meet Pumper the Fire Pup, go inside a real jail cell and navigate an obstacle course. Hot dogs and popcorn will be served.
