We did it! Your support, along with corporate leaders, investors, policymakers and so many more, led to the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in August, which included hundreds of billions of dollars to finally position the United States to effectively fight climate change. 

As you know, Ceres was there every step of the way. We made sure that climate priorities remained at the top of the agenda through extensive rounds of negotiation. We mobilized thousands of business leaders to make the case that acting with urgency on climate change is essential to preserving our economy and our future.  

We could not have done any of this without our partners—and that includes you. Thank you. 

Our unique model drives progress. Ceres has proven that working with companies and investors to support bold climate policies accelerates the shift to a clean energy economy. When the public and private sectors partner, climate-related economic risk is reduced, and businesses can capture the opportunities of a sustainable future, which benefits all of us. 

In less than a year and a half, we brought together more than 2,900 companies with more than $5.1 trillion in annual revenue and more than 400 million global employees (that’s approximately 12% of the global workforce!) to push for federal investment in clean energy, clean transportation, advanced manufacturing, domestic supply chains, climate resilience, environmental justice, and resilient agriculture.  

The Biden Administration heard loud and clear from corporate and investor America (in addition to hundreds of thousands of Americans like you and me). Real climate investments now! 

But our work is just beginning, John. It is now our responsibility to ensure we not only capitalize on this important package but build upon it to achieve our national climate and environmental justice goals.  

The upcoming COP27 conference in Egypt this November provides the perfect opportunity to work with leaders around the world to move beyond pledges of climate action towards clear roadmaps and demonstrable progress.
