Last year, voters overwhelmingly passed Initiative 1639, to keep weapons of war out of dangerous hands and protect our schools and communities from gun violence.

But our opponents are still refusing to admit defeat.

First, they launched a legal challenge to try to overturn the will of the people, which we are still defending in court. Now, a small group of gun rights extremists—including members of the anti-government militia group the Washington Three Percenters—has launched a ballot initiative campaign to repeal Initiative 1639 and overturn this lifesaving measure.

The stakes are so high. If this campaign is successful, we’ll be back at square one heading into the 2020 election and we’ll need to mount an aggressive counter campaign. We cannot let them undo this progress and allow semi-automatic assault rifles to fall into dangerous hands.
