Sixth in a series of media briefings through November 2022 where State Superintendent Chris Reykdal will unveil policy and budget priorities to transform Washington?s K?12 public schools. This briefing will focus on Superintendent Reykdal?s proposal to ensure all students have access to educators who are highly skilled, retained within their communities, and reflective of the students they serve.

What:?The 2021 Legislature tasked OSPI with making recommendations to support recruiting and retaining a diverse educator workforce with competitive salaries reflective of current economic conditions. Superintendent Reykdal will describe his proposal to the Legislature to make critical adjustments to the state?s compensation structure for school employees, focusing resources on positions and in communities where they are needed most.
