Tell Congress:

"Half of all U.S. families are either living in poverty or are one paycheck away from poverty. Pass the BOOST Act to lift 20 million people out of poverty and provide 218 million Americans with a financial boost."

John,

For too long, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have been giving handouts to the wealthiest people in this country, exacerbating the staggering level of economic inequality that starves public programs. It’s time to turn that around!

New legislation called the BOOST Act will expand the financial guarantees that we provide for no-, low- and middle-income families and finally put working families over Big Business, millionaires and billionaires.

Become a grassroots co-signer today to lift 20 million people out of poverty and give working families a BOOST!

For generations, Social Security has effectively guaranteed that no senior would live in poverty in the United States. And over the years, we’ve expanded Social Security to include children, surviving spouses, veterans and people with disabilities. It’s no wonder that Social Security is, by far, the most successful social insurance program in our nation’s history.

The BOOST Act is the next step in this social contract to help ensure that no family in the United States should be forced to live in poverty.

The Building Our Opportunities to Survive and Thrive Act, or BOOST Act, introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), adds a layer of fairness that would help ensure families don’t struggle to pay for their basic necessities. This common sense legislation would also reduce the gap between the rich and everyone else in this country.

The BOOST Act repeals the Trump-GOP tax giveaway and puts that money in the pockets of low- and middle-income families, as well as people who earn no income at all, such as students and caregivers.

Attacks on Social Security’s finances often blame the retiring of the baby boomers, but that’s not what’s behind the shortfall. We always knew they would retire, and the 1983 Social Security reforms built a $2.9 trillion trust fund to prepare for them. What they didn’t see coming in 1983 was the runaway inequality that we live with now. The BOOST Act will reduce inequality and strengthen Social Security’s finances at the same time!

ADD YOUR NAME: Let’s pass the BOOST Act to lift up U.S. families and bring the poverty rate to the lowest level in American history.

More than half of American families are either living in poverty or are one paycheck away from poverty. Thanks to the recent GOP tax cuts, even more wealth has been concentrated with America’s top 1%—and inequality has continued to grow. With each new corporate giveaway and tax cut for the rich, the Republicans are furthering the economic divide in this country. The BOOST Act will help reduce that gap.

With income inequality quickly eroding the American Dream for millions of people, there is no time to waste.

Sign the petition today to tell the House of Representatives: Pass the BOOST Act to help more than 153 million adults and more than 64 million children.

In all, BOOST would provide additional income to more than 218 million Americans.

By fighting to expand and protect Social Security, and by passing the BOOST Act, we can take major strides to reduce the inequality that is causing tremendous damage to families across the United States.
