This year alone, hundreds of Democratic women stepped up to learn how to run for office and fight back against GOP extremism in every corner of our country. And Emerge has been there right from the start of their journeys supporting them every step of the way.

I’m thrilled to see Emerge alums like State Sen. McMorrow fighting for our rights. She’s proof that our work to recruit, train, and elect Democratic women is a real lifeline for our communities. But we can’t afford to lose momentum now, and we’re counting on you to propel our movement forward.

Hi. 

I believe that most of us want to do the right thing and speak up for our neighbors in need. But we don’t always know where to start. That’s why I’m so glad to be an Emerge alum and why I’m asking you to support their work today. Let me explain:

I didn’t start my career in politics. I was a concerned parent that wanted to make a difference. And thanks to Emerge’s trainings and their inspiring network of committed Democratic women, I turned my values into a strong campaign and won my election to the Michigan State Senate in 2018.  

Now, I’m fighting beside my Emerge sisters all over the country to resist the GOP’s hateful schemes and ongoing attacks on our essential rights. But we have a problem. 

Republicans still control the majority of U.S. state legislatures. That means that the future of abortion access, voting rights, and basic protections for our most vulnerable neighbors could fall to the whims of out-of-touch, right-wing extremists. We MUST build majorities of Democratic women to safeguard our rights at the state level. 

That’s why the November midterms are so important, and why Emerge’s work to help strong Democratic women run for office and win is more urgent than ever. More than 600 Emerge alums – including me – are running for office right now. And, to speak absolutely plainly, our country needs every single one of us to win. 

So please: Will you donate $5 or more now – as much as you can spare before our midnight deadline – to continue Emerge’s work to recruit, train, and elect Democratic women at every level of our government?
