The day is coming for people like Shelby
Dear Friend,

"Do whatever you can to protect your lungs. The day is going to come when there will be something to change your life.”
Shelby Luebbert clearly remembers the words of hope her pediatric doctor had for her. Now 28 years old, she was beyond excited when a triple-modulator therapy was approved this year. But as with most new treatments, Shelby’s happiness was for her friends who would benefit… not for herself.
“I’m extremely excited for them and terrified for my future all the same. It’s made tears well up more times than I’d like to admit, but it’s also made me smile to see so many of my amazing friends having better days.”
Shelby has one of the rarest genetic combinations of cystic fibrosis, and there is currently no available treatment. Each time a new therapy is announced, Shelby has to brace her support network for disappointment. “I prep my people, explain exactly how rare my genes are, and how, even more than before, we have to keep fighting for a cure.”

Friend, we must hold out hope that a cure for cystic fibrosis is on the horizon for everyone -- and keep fighting until we get there. Stand with us by making a deeper commitment to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis with a sustaining gift»
SUPPORT THE FIGHT
Shelby’s hope for the future is to live “a life unleashed”: to be able to go out for a girls' night without dragging tube feeds and a nebulizer along, to be able to pursue a business or volunteer work that benefits other people with chronic illnesses, and to be able to make lasting memories with the children in her life as they grow.

She also hopes no one in the CF community will be forgotten -- that each one of us will continue to rally around those who need it most until our work is done. Can we count on you, friend? We have come so far, but there is still more to do before we have a cure for everyone. The day is coming for people like Shelby -- please help us get there by becoming a monthly donor today.
