This nurse practitioner’s story deserves to go viral. It’s a devastating example of what will continue to happen if we don’t draw the line for freedom. 

 

That’s why we’re suing CVS.

 

But I’m getting ahead of myself. 

 

Paige Casey is a young nurse practitioner. For years, she faithfully served her community, working as a nurse practitioner at a local CVS MinuteClinic in Virginia. 

 

When she was hired, she made her employer aware that her Catholic faith prevented her from prescribing or dispensing abortion-inducing drugs. 

 

CVS accommodated her religious conviction for three-and-a-half years and didn’t require her to administer any life-ending drugs.

 

But then in 2022, they told Paige they would no longer allow her religious freedom. A few months later, she was fired—just two days after earning a performance-based raise. 

 

This is blatant religious discrimination, and according to Virginia law — it’s illegal.

With the ongoing effects still felt from the pandemic, health care workers are needed now more than ever. Forcing them to choose between violating their faith or being fired hurts everyone. 

 

And it’s downright un-American. 

 

Patients are best served by doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals who are free to act ethically and consistent with their beliefs. 

 

Despite having a spotless record, Paige is now unemployed, simply because she stood for her faith. 

 

This unlawful discrimination cannot be allowed to stand. That’s why Alliance Defending Freedom is filing a lawsuit against CVS on behalf of Paige.
