The media came out today guns-blazing to take down Democrat John Fetterman, who is running against Republican Mehmet ("Dr.") Oz for the US Senate seat in Pennsylvania. The election is one month away.
In an incredibly able-ist take on Fetterman's stroke from last May, the media are claiming that voters won't (shouldn't) like the fact that Fetterman is now using a word-to-text computer program to help him understand what people are saying. This is something the deaf have used for years, and no one would claim that someone deaf is unfit for office.
Such a low-blow is to be expected from someone like Oz, who is a Trumper. But from the media? Would any of these reporters write a piece claiming that voters would/should be uncomfortable with Gob. Abbott of Texas simply because he uses a wheelchair? No, they wouldn't. Because they know discrimination against people with disabilities is wrong. At least, when it's a Republican.
The latest polls have Fetterman ahead, but the race is tightening with one month to go. And this latest smear surely won't help.
Can you please join me in giving $2, $5, $10 or whatever you can afford to John Fetterman to help us win this crucial race and hold the US Senate?
“If life starts at conception, why do you care what age the heart starts beating at? It’s, you know, it’s still murder, if you were to terminate a child whether their heart’s beating or not." -- Mehmet Oz, May 2022.
Thanks so much, JOHN
