At these events, outreach teams will provide Coordinated Entry ([link removed]) assessments and information regarding available services. SALA Medics will also be on location to provide First Aid for clients as needed. Snacks, coffee, and other items are to be distributed to unsheltered individuals.

Coordinated entry is an important process through which people experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness can access the crisis response system in a streamlined way…

When possible, the assessment provides the ability for households to gain access to the best options to address their needs, incorporating participants’ choice, rather than being evaluated for a single program within the system. Data for Indigenous Justice (DIJ) is an Alaska Native-led non-profit that homes a
database for missing and murdered Indigenous womxn, girls, and relatives data.
This organization is led by Alaska Native womxn with great intention, care, and
love for our community. The origin of DIJ is a story of grassroots community
organizing. In 2018 local Indigenous organizers put together a rally to call attention

Housing Problem-Solving: Prevention Strategies

What is Housing Problem-Solving? Housing problem-solving (HPS) seeks to empower households by having unwavering respect for their dreams, strengths, goals, and preferences. HPS explores person-centered, housing-focused approaches that are creative, flexible, safe, and cost-effective solutions to quickly resolve the housing crisis—even if just temporarily—with limited or no financial support. HPS identifies community partnerships and skills-building and training opportunities supporting client empowerment and long-term HPS solutions while helping households regain a sense of control by focusing on their strengths and resiliency. The HPS approach does not depend upon dedicated permanent housing resources or subsidies. Every community must have in place a systemic response that ensures that homelessness is a rare, brief, and non-recurring experience. If every interaction is approached with a belief that each individual has a potential pathway to stable housing or access to resources without
the limitation of normal restrictions and lengthy policies, efforts to prevent and end homelessness using HPS strategies can be accelerated for many.

Every One Votes is an initiative to ensure that people who are experiencing homelessness are registered to vote and able to exercise their right to vote. Providers can access resources and tools that provide guidance and strategies to support clients and consumers to register to vote, and to encourage voter turnout.

Free National Webinar | Oct. 18 at 3 pm Eastern : Everything Nonprofit Employees Need to Know About Public Service Loan Forgiveness

If you work for a nonprofit and have federal student loans, you only have until October 31 to apply for this temporary expansion of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

Time is running out for nonprofit employees with federal student loans to take advantage of the limited PSLF waiver. The federal government has waived, until October 31, some of the burdens that made loan forgiveness so hard. Now, even payments that previously didn’t count toward forgiveness of your student loans could be eligible under this limited-time program. Nonprofit employees have only a few weeks left to seize the opportunity to see as much as all of their federal student loan debt forgiven.
