Connecticut just made requesting an absentee ballot easier! You can now request your absentee ballot through a brand new online portal>>

While you are still welcome to request an absentee ballot via a mail application or by visiting your town clerk, the online portal will offer a more convenient option for many.

If you are a registered voter with a Connecticut driver’s license, you can request your absentee ballot by phone, computer, or tablet on the new webpage.
 

Request Your Absentee Ballot Online

As always, you are able to vote by absentee ballot if you are unable to go to a polling place on Election Day:

• Because you are actively serving in the military,
• Your religious beliefs prevent you from secular activities including voting on Election Day, and/or
• Your duties as an election official prevent you from voting on Election Day.

As of 2022, you are ALSO able to vote by absentee ballot if you are unable to go to a polling place on Election Day:

• Because of absence from your town for a period of time on Election Day, because of a sickness, or because of a disability.
  • This includes voters who are unable to go to their polling place because of a sickness or physical disability of another person, or because of the continued presence of a sickness, such as the COVID-19 virus.

Remember absentee ballots must be received by town clerks no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 8th, 2022, to be counted. It is not sufficient for an absentee ballot to be postmarked by Election Day.

Even if requesting your ballot with the new online portal, be sure to allow for ample time for the ballot to arrive to you by mail, and make a plan to return your ballot by 8 p.m. on Election Day!
