MDs will see changes to CME requirements*

Physician?s (MD) should begin to prepare for the termination of Proclamation 20-32 which will end Oct. 27.

Gov. Inslee announced his intent to rescind 12 Proclamations, including Proclamation 20-32, which have been in place during the COVID-19 public health emergency. When these 12 healthcare-related emergency orders terminate this fall, approximately 87% of all COVID emergency proclamations will have ended. However, the Secretary of Health will still require face masks in healthcare facilities and long-term care facilities, as well as correctional facilities under certain circumstances.

On October 27, 2022, MDs must:

1) Complete training in suicide assessment, treatment, management.

2) Meet continuing education requirements.

3) Start accumulating four hours of AIDS education.

In conjunction with the Department of Health and other medical professions, the Washington Medical Commission (WMC) will exercise enforcement discretion regarding the resumption of CME requirements. WMC will be instating a grace period for MDs and PAs to complete their CME requirements. Visit our?webpage for CME reinstatement [ [link removed] ] to learn about the timeline for completion.
