More projects may qualify for Commerce grants to spur industrial site development
Initial response to new $2.5 million grant prompts changes allowing more projects to qualify and application deadline extension to Oct. 28?
OLYMPIA, WA ? Positive response to the launch of a new Washington State Department of Commerce?Industrial Site Readiness grant program has prompted updates to eligibility criteria and an application deadline extension.
The program is designed to support counties, cities, port districts and tribal governments with plans to develop and revitalize properties for manufacturing or other industrial uses. Eligible public entities throughout the state can apply for grants of $200,000 to $500,000 each now through Oct. 28 through an?online application (Smartsheet).
In addition to the deadline extension, changes to eligibility criteria open the funding to more potential projects, including:
- Requirement for a 100 minimum acre site has been reduced to 50 minimum acres.

Properties with existing buildings will be considered.
A total of $2.5 million is available statewide to develop large manufacturing sites.?This one-time grant program is designed to help accelerate business attraction efforts at the local level.?Eligible uses of funds include a range of activities such as engineering studies, permitting, and site due diligence.
