October 12, 2022

Dear Migration Information Source subscriber,

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Migration Information Source! During these two decades, we have built up a community of people around the world interested in developments on migration, and we are so glad to count you among them!

Many things have changed since that first publication in 2002. International migration today is a bigger phenomenon and has become a more central—and often polarized—topic in many societies. What has not changed is our commitment to continue shedding light, not heat, on this fascinating, complex issue, and to bring you fresh, global, and authoritative perspectives from leading researchers and experts.

You may have noticed that we recently redesigned our newsletter, which we hope makes it easier to browse new content. This year we published a guide to the top statistics on migration globally, to complement our long-running authoritative guide to Frequently Requested Statistics on U.S. immigration. And we recently started our first podcast, Changing Climate, Changing Migration.

If you haven’t visited in a while, I invite you to check out the website and scroll through the archives. Browse for analysis by country or check out our archived library of special issues diving deep into topics such as climate change. If interested in U.S. issues, please check out our Policy Beat or our U.S. Spotlights on particular immigrant populations.

Unlike many migration journals and other publications, the Source is free to access. But it takes significant resources to produce. Please consider making a donation to help support the Source and its work in the years ahead.

As the Migration Information Source looks towards its third decade, we are more excited than ever about what comes next. We look forward to continuing the journey with you. (And we would be delighted if you would share word of us with relevant networks.)

Thank you for your interest!

Best regards,
