Featured Funding OpportunitiesDepartment of Labor Nursing Expansion Grant ProgramThis program is designed to support nursing training programs to diversify the pipeline of nursing professionals able to fill these jobs and improve the nation’s healthcare system. Who can apply? Learn more here!Department of Transportation Thriving Communities ProgramThis Program aims to ensure that disadvantaged communities adversely or disproportionately affected by environmental, climate, and human health policy outcomes have the technical tools and organizational capacity to compete for federal aid and deliver quality infrastructure projects that enable their communities and neighborhoods to thrive.TCP facilitates the planning and development of transportation and community revitalization activities and provides tools to ensure that under-resourced communities can access the historic funding provided in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).Interested applicants must identify community partners and together submit a Letter of Interest (LOI) by December 6, 2022, to be considered for selection.Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC) Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP)CDTC is calling for local and regional transportation planning initiatives for inclusion in CDTC’s 2023-2024 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP). $1 Million in funding is available to cities, towns, villages, counties, and member organizations in CDTC’s metropolitan planning area. Applications from not-for-profits, neighborhood groups, and other organizations will be considered if the application is sponsored and submitted by at least one local government in the study area and involves the participation of others, if applicable.A virtual UPWP workshop is scheduled for Thursday, October 20th at 1 p.m. via Zoom. To be eligible you must have started business on September 1, 2018 or later and has been operational for at least six months before an application is submitted. Learn more and register here!FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance GrantsFEMA’s two competitive hazard mitigation grant programs, Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) and Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), provide states, local communities, tribes, and territories funding for eligible mitigation activities to strengthen our nation’s ability to build a culture of preparedness by reducing disaster losses and protecting life and property from future disaster damage.The application period for FMA and BRIC opened on Sept. 30, 2022. To apply, you must fill out a subapplication by November 9, 2022. The New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services began holding webinars for this program August 4 and will host them through October. Featured Grant Award$1.1 Million+ for Local Justice & Public Safety Programs$1,192,294 will be awarded to local governments and public safety non-profits to help provide services for victims of human trafficking and to prevent and control crime in the Capital Region. These grants, administered by the Department of Justice will allow recipients to support a broad range of activities to support victims and prevent and control crime based on their own local needs and conditions.Local awards in this round of grants include:$790,298 for the John F. Finn Institute for Public Safety to research the forces that influence racial, ethnic, and gender diversity in law enforcement recruitment, and to identify systemic steps to facilitate equal and enhanced access to recruitment opportunities$252,576 for YWCA of Schenectady to build capacity to provide comprehensive support and services to victims of human trafficking in Schenectady County$73,291 for the City of Albany to prevent and control crime through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program$48,780 for Schenectady County to prevent and control crime through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program$27,439 for the City of Troy to prevent and control crime through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program Small Business ResourcesNew York Small Business Development Center (NYSBDC)The NYSBDC provides small business owners and entrepreneurs in New York with the highest quality, confidential business counseling, training, and business research at no cost.The Albany Small Business Development Center serves small businesses in the Capital Region.
