Dear John,
Fighting the global backlash against the basic human rights of LGBTIQ people across the world continues to be our highest priority.
Why?
Because we refuse to let the violence, persecution and discrimination against LGBTIQ people continue, and in some places even get worse.
But how are we doing that?
By bolstering our development team. Elise Colomer-Cheadle and Chandler Bazemore both bring the experience, the drive, and the stories to change hearts and minds.
Elise, a Puerto Rican Lesbian woman, never actually felt out of place. Like many people, she felt different – unique – but never the odd one out. From a young age she knew she had a multi-layered identity, choosing to look at the world through a comprehensive lens – intuitively understanding just how complex life can be, and how so much of it is outside of our own control.
Starting her career at the United Nations, and specializing in business and human rights, Elise applied her Queer and Latin identity to help leverage constituents that rarely have a voice. Elise has since spent her career in development, specializing in bridging the gap between corporations and nonprofits.
She has joined OutRight to help us leverage relationships with global companies. There are so many places where OutRight’s work is urgent and when governments fail to protect LGBTIQ people, the need for each one of us is greater. Will you join Elise in giving back to LGBTIQ communities that need it the most?
