John,
I’m Ashley Ehasz and I’m a Democratic U.S. Army veteran running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 1st District to replace Republican Representative Brian Fitzpatrick and give people in Bucks and Montgomery Counties a leader with courage and compassion to make real change.
If you’re ready for new leadership in Washington, WATCH and SHARE my official launch video here.
Our experiences shape us. I am a veteran and a patriot. Watching the riots escalate during the January 6th insurrection, I knew that politics as usual was no longer an option. We don't need politicians like Brian Fitzpatrick, who turn their head from their party's violent rhetoric. We need new leadership.
My upbringing was not an easy one. My family was loving, but we had our challenges, including mental health problems, substance abuse, and staying afloat financially. All of these problems led to me moving around a lot as I was growing up, so stability and hope for a better future was always something I craved.
At 17, with an age waiver in hand, I joined the U.S. Army as a way to create opportunities for myself and to serve our country following the September 11th terrorist attacks. I was seeking stability and structure for myself, but I also had a deep passion to bring stability to the world.
My service began by first attending the United States Military Academy at West Point, an experience that instilled the values of leadership and integrity within me. I went on to serve as a Second Lieutenant within the U.S. Army Aviation branch and trained to become an AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter pilot. Graduating as the only woman in my Apache class, I learned to defeat the odds and carve my own path.
I went on to serve overseas in Kuwait and Iraq, and commanded more than 220 brave soldiers out of Fort Riley, Kansas. After ensuring all of them returned home safely from our deployment to South Korea, I used my G.I. Bill to pursue my graduate degree at the University of Oxford, where I focused my research on human rights. Most recently, I worked as a COVID-19 policy writer and CARES Act project coordinator to provide public service during this devastating pandemic.
I'm not a politician. I'm not going to Washington to cozy up to lobbyists — I am going to roll up my sleeves and solve problems. When it comes to things like protecting the right to an abortion, affording healthcare costs or a mortgage, and crushing student debt, I have skin in the game.
I believe in having courage and making tough decisions. I believe in equality. And I believe in leading with compassion.
Join me on Day 1 of this journey: watch my launch video, then share with your friends and family to spread the word.
Thanks so much for reading and considering me to be your next representative in Congress. Let’s come together, be brave, and get the job done.
Sincerely,
Ashley
