Senate Republicans shamefully blocked debate on the DISCLOSE Act, a core component of the Freedom to Vote Act that would shine a light on secret money spending in politics. Americans deserve to know who is trying to influence them, and what they want from the government.

So long as Congress is unable to pass this critical legislation, it’ll be up to the Biden Administration to take the needed steps to protect and strengthen our democracy and rebuild public trust in our government.

Secret political spending has the potential to impact the allocation of federal contracts, which are used to provide us with essential services like repairing our roads and bridges. That’s why it’s critical we know who is spending what so we can rest assured that our tax dollars go to the most qualified to do the job, rather than those that pay-to-play in our federal contracting process.

With the stroke of a pen, President Biden can issue a contractor disclosure executive order which would shine a light on secret money in politics by requiring contractors that receive over $1 million in federal dollars to disclose their political spending. This would be the first major blow to secret money in politics since the Citizens United ruling in 2010.

Sign and send the petition to President Biden: Issue an executive order requiring federal contractors to disclose all of their political spending.
