Hi John,
I’m writing to you with a quick update. This past Sunday, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver highlighted the ongoing protests in Iran, and paid special attention to Iranian women’s role in the fight for freedom.

In “Crime Reporting,” John Oliver begins the episode by briefing the audience on Mahsa (Jhina) Amini’s death almost four weeks ago and the immediate response from Iranian women, who took to the streets to show their outrage.
Oliver breaks down the role of Iran’s so-called morality police, and their increased clampdown under Raisi's hard-line administration.
He goes on to say, “The young women at the forefront of these protests have been making it very clear that they are not afraid to stand up to the morality police or, indeed, anybody.”
Oliver’s segment emphasizes the power of the brave women protesting throughout Iran. Their defiance and determination has garnered global attention to their fight for freedom, and we proudly stand in solidarity with them.
I don’t want to spoil all of Oliver’s segment, which NIAC helped create, so I encourage you to watch it on HBO Max. Look for Sunday, October 9th’s episode titled “Crime Reporting.” Or, you can watch it here [[link removed]] .
We know that the media hasn't been giving nearly enough coverage on what's happening in Iran and that's why we're grateful that John Oliver used his platform to drive awareness. NIAC is proud to have worked with his team to give them the information they needed to put together this segment and bring much needed attention to the ongoing protests in Iran.
With you,
Assal Rad
