Friend, we have good news and bad news about our fight to end offshore oil drilling.
First, the bad news: President Biden just permitted Amplify Energy — the company whose oil spill last year leaked 25,000 gallons of oil into the ocean off Huntington Beach — to repair the pipeline and resume oil drilling in the area.
It is deeply disappointing that the Biden Administration would approve any work on this dangerous pipeline, inviting more disasters to the shores Californians love and enjoy.
But the good news is, there is something you can do to help, right now!
It’s only been a little over a week since we sent you our petition to ban offshore oil drilling, and we already have nearly 1,000 signatures!

Dirty power continues to undermine our climate efforts and submits our frontline communities to bear the brunt of climate cowardice. We must terminate offshore drilling and seize every opportunity to transition to clean, renewable energy.
With less than a decade left to address the climate crisis, action is urgently needed. Thank you for lending your name to this critical push.

Subject: this would make Big Oil FURIOUS 🤗
One year ago this Sunday, a pipeline leaked thousands of barrels of crude oil into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Huntington Beach.
After that devastating oil spill, we really hoped the California State Legislature would spring into action. Our staff in Sacramento met with lawmakers to advocate for state legislation to end to offshore oil drilling.
But we continue to be met with FIERCE opposition from California’s powerful oil industry. They have thrown everything they have at us to kill any effort to ban offshore oil drilling.
We’re not giving up. We know how powerful this community is when we all stand together, so today we’re gathering petition signatures to build momentum and show lawmakers the strength of this movement.
Please, take a moment to join Californians against offshore drilling by signing our petition now » [link removed]
The truth is, our coastal ecosystem simply cannot handle another oil spill like the one we had last year. The damage inflicted on our oceans and beaches will take years to recover from. And these spills threaten not only the amazing sea life that lives here but our coastal communities and economies as well.
Let’s not wait for this to happen again.
While tragic, the oil spill was also completely predictable and preventable. No amount of regulation can make oil drilling completely safe.
The only way to guarantee our coast and communities stay clean and unpolluted is to decommission the oil rigs off our coast, shift away from our dependence on fossil fuels, and transition to clean, renewable energy.
Even now, these corporate polluters are asking the White House to reinstate their lease so they can continue drilling again.
We must do everything in our power to loosen the grip that oil companies have on our lawmakers and demand immediate action to safeguard our shores.
Your voice is more important than ever. We’re rallying as much support as we can to prove to our leaders in California that we, California’s Environmental Voters, are sick and tired of their climate inaction.
Help us build pressure and momentum for banning offshore drilling. Sign our digital petition now » [link removed]
