I'll cut to the chase, John.
I'm reaching out today to ask you for a $3 contribution to Jay Chen's campaign for Congress in CA-45. His race is heating up, so I hope you'll give me a few minutes to explain why I'm doing everything – everything – I can to elect Jay.
In 2018, you may recall that California played a major role in our efforts to take back the House. We flipped 7 House seats, including in historically red regions like Orange County. It's 2022, and we now only hold a 5-seat majority. California is once again front and center in the battle for House control. This time, big wins here could mean preventing a Kevin McCarthy takeover of Congress.
One of our best opportunities is Jay’s race in CA-45. It’s one of the few districts where Democrats have a strong chance to flip a Republican-held seat. That’s making Kevin McCarthy nervous — especially given that he’s staked his entire career on taking the House in 2022.
As you read this email, Jay is facing an unprecedented barrage of misleading attacks – from his opponent and Kevin McCarthy himself. His team tells me they are countering these attacks with robust digital and field programs, but they need all the help they can get in the homestretch:
Can you pitch in $3 to defend Jay from the false smears being thrown at him? This is a key race in our effort to keep the House, and we can’t leave Jay in the lurch.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Not only is this race consequential for control of the House, but Jay is also the right man for this job, and it’s devotion to families and students in his community that sets him apart.
He serves in the U.S. Navy Reserves and was elected twice to serve on the Board of Trustees at Mt. San Antonio Community College. Jay understands the importance of protecting our democracy — especially as Trump's cult-like influence on the GOP continues to undermine our institutions.
This is a crucial opportunity to flip a GOP-held seat. Can you make a $3 contribution to Jay’s campaign, so they have the resources to take on these attacks?
Thanks for all you do,
Adam Schiff
