John,

On July 4th, we celebrate together the promise of this great country and the promise of the values we share.

America is more than a nation among nations, we are a beacon of hope for the world. A nation founded on the promise of liberty and justice for all, securing our freedoms through the sacrifice and heroism of generations of Americans.

Our journey as a nation, our constant fight to realize the Founders' promise in the Declaration of Independence -- that's what makes our country great.

It's our duty as Americans to do the hard work of Democracy, to fight against the injustice still present in our country, because the fight against injustice is what birthed our nation, and where our destiny lies.

Together, we can ensure everyone has the opportunity to achieve their dreams -- no matter what side of the tracks you grew up on, who you love, or the color of your skin.

There have always been forces that want to hold people back. But together we will add our own chapters to the American story and tear down barriers to progress.

That's what our nation is all about. America's greatest strength is our ability to come together to fight for what's bigger than ourselves. We're creating a more perfect union. That's what drives me every day.

We are so fortunate to live in the land of the free and home of the brave.

Happy 4th of July, John.

Andrew Gillum
