Last night, Governor McKee took the debate stage to face off against Republican Ashley Kalus for the first time. The Governor highlighted his accomplishments over his first 20 months in office, and he emphasized his Rhode Island roots.

Governor McKee is a lifelong Rhode Islander who knows the challenges that Rhode Islanders face. Under his leadership, we’ve led the nation in economic recovery and our unemployment rate is at a record low. He has delivered $265 million in tax relief for Rhode Islanders as our nation faces an affordability crisis, and he will continue to be a strong voice protecting reproductive rights and fighting against gun violence. 

On the other side of the stage, we saw a Republican candidate who is not prepared to be Governor, who refuses to give straightforward answers, and who is out of touch with Rhode Island values.

While her performance last night left voters with more questions than answers, this much is clear: Ashley Kalus thinks she can use personal wealth to buy power in our state, even though she moved here less than one year ago and has no relevant experience.

Right now, with less than a month left to communicate with voters, our campaign is being outspent – the Governor needs your help to increase voter turnout and keep our ads up on TV.
