Ask Waterperry Gardens not to exploit reindeer at their festive event

Dear John,

As part of our week of action against the use of animals in festive events, we have launched a new online action.

Over the 19th and 20th of November Waterperry Gardens will host rented reindeer for an event they are titling “Come and Meet Real Reindeer”.

I need your help to stop this!

Reindeer are very sensitive animals that belong in the arctic tundra, not in the Oxfordshire countryside, and certainly not at festive events like these.

These reindeer will have to endure a long journey to then be put on show in a small enclosure, all for human entertainment.

The event page claims to offer “the chance to learn all about these unique creatures and their natural habitats”. It is hard to see the educational value of displaying a reindeer in an environment so far removed from their natural habitat. Ultimately, it isn’t worth the distress to these reindeer, or any animal used in a festive event.

We have reached out to Waterperry Gardens numerous times, but they have never replied.

Now we need your help! We have created a form to make it easier for you to register your despair. Or you can email them yourself and let them know you are unhappy that they plan to exploit animals in this way.
