Democratic Candidate Earns Lauded Endorsement:
National Security Leaders for America (NSL4A) Endorses Virginia First Congressional District Candidate Herb Jones for Congress
[Richmond, Virginia]: Herb Jones for Virginia today announced the endorsement of National Security Leaders for America, exemplifying the Democratic nominee’s strong resolve to prioritize national security and preserve democracy.
“Herb Jones is prepared to stand up against all that imperils our democracy. He will stand up to those who use violence to achieve political ends. He will stand up to people who lie about elections to protest outcomes they do not like. He will stand up to those who prefer the rule of authoritarians. He will stand up to those who circumvent the law to install their preferred candidates against the will of the people. He will stand up to those who think their power lets them trample regular people’s inalienable rights,” declared more than 500 retired generals, admirals, ambassadors, cabinet and service secretaries, appointed leaders, elected officials, and senior executive service leaders.
“For the 2022 midterm elections, we chose to endorse candidates who promote democratic values and have opponents who specifically do not,” explained the NSL4A spokeswoman, Linda Jackson.
Examples of Republican incumbent Rep. Rob Wittman’s actions to undermine democratic values include:
- Voting against certifying the 2020 election results.
- Voting against protecting voter access
-
Promoting voter suppression tactics.
- Claiming traitorous insurrectionists were “just patriots standing up” or exercising First Amendment rights.
By contrast, during his 30 years in the U.S. Army, Mr. Jones served the United States of America across the country and world, including tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. After ten years of service, he began a career in finance and investments, but remained in the Army Reserves. He was elected and served three terms as County Treasurer in New Kent County. After 9/11, he was once again called into service and served two terms in Afghanistan. In 2012, he accepted a federal government position as an operations manager in Afghanistan. Mr. Jones then retired as a full colonel. His extensive military expertise prompted Virginia Governor Ralph Northam to appoint him to his Military Advisory Council. He is the co-founder and CEO of Pyramid Technologies, LLC, a cloud-computing, project management and logistics firm.
