As our two week series of updates and invitations draws to an end, I want to share a little more about the Ms. Foundation's bold strategy to build collective power for women. This is personal for me.

On Giving Tuesday, Ms. Foundation CEO and President Teresa Younger and I authored two op-ed features. We made the case that if we want to see women and girls of color leading in the future, we must invest in them today. We invite this intentional investment every day, not just on Giving Tuesday!

We know that many organizations led by women and girls of color have zero funding. ZERO. My experience as a fundraising professional began in 1998 when I secured a seed grant for a small, women of color-led community center in Minneapolis. No one was getting paid. Every penny went to work and, after many years, it was no longer sustainable. Without funding a beloved community hub was going to close. I will never forget what it felt like when that first philanthropic partner stepped forward to stand with us.
