Awesome Priest Group Speaks Out



Dear Friend, 



We love our faithful priests, don’t we? The clergy of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church sacrifice so much for us and dedicate themselves to the good of our souls selflessly as a way of life. Quite frankly, they don’t get the recognition they deserve. 



But then again, that’s not why our clergy serve. They know that their reward comes at the end – they’ll receive it directly from Christ the High Priest Himself. He is “a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.” (Hebrews 5:6)



That leads me to tell you about a marvelous group of priests (and deacons) who I have been working with for many years called the Confraternity of Catholic Clergy (CCC). 



I serve as the CCC’s Executive Director. (Having a layman run some of the tedious affairs of the group allows the priests to focus on the more important ministry.) In the past, Catholic Action and the CCC have collaborated on various conferences  <[link removed]>and events which has made for a very dynamic pairing of lay and clerical organizations working together. 



You might have heard of the group’s Founder, Fr. Robert Levis,  (d. 2016) of EWTN fame, who founded the CCC in 1975 at a time when clergy were leaving in droves. His familiar EWTN cohort, Fr. John Trigilio, has been President of the CCC for many years and is our main spokesman and public representative. And I can’t forget to mention that we’re so blessed to have Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone as our Episcopal Advisor. 



It’s a great group of dedicated men who hail from all corners of our country but work together to try to give the Catholic clergy a single voice of orthodoxy that will inspire and unify their brethren on the front lines of the Church. Over the years other CCC affiliates have sprung up in the UK, Australia, and Ireland as well. 



The most recent CCC Statement <[link removed]> is a gem, and I hope you will take a moment to read it on their website <[link removed]>. The statement is titled “An Open Letter to the Faithful German Clergy.” In it they offer their strong support to their brother priests in Germany who are holding the line in the face of the awful “Synod” that has already shown signs of serious heresy and schism. 



Amazingly, the statement was written on September 16th, the feast of Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian, martyrs of the early Church who suffered for the Faith in the 3rd century on different continents. The letters between the two saints showed the strong solidarity of faith between two members of Christ’s holy priesthood, and I found the CCC’s letter to the faithful German clergy to be a very inspiring parallel.



It’s wonderful to hear the clergy speaking with one voice. Catholic Action counts itself a proud affiliate of the Confraternity of Catholic Clergy. For our part, we will continue to support our faithful shepherds who live out their vocations with the same zeal for souls and love for the Church as the Good Shepherd Himself.
