In the 24 hours following Robert Mueller’s testimony to Congress that Russia is still working to infiltrate and attack our elections, Mitch McConnell and his Senate Republicans have blocked FOUR common-sense election security bills.
They’re blocking these bills that would help safeguard our elections at the same time that the body’s own Intelligence Committee released a report saying that Russia attempted to hack into the election systems, in some way, in ALL 50 STATES in 2016, and was successful to varying degrees in several states!
It’s not hard to know why – McConnell claims the bills, which are straightforward efforts to protect fair elections – are partisan attempts to give Democrats an advantage, essentially ADMITTING that Republicans are relying on foreign adversaries and other who would hack our elections to cheat on their behalf.
We need to secure our elections, and PFAW is working to build support for the bills in question. But watching McConnell’s corrupt intent and his appalling disdain for our democracy play out so nakedly in real time also underscores the urgent need to FLIP the Senate and elect a Democratic majority – so we can finally secure our elections and strengthen our democracy with other desperately needed reforms.
We need to replenish our Take Back the Senate Fund with another $36,000 before the end of the month to fight back and hold Republican senators accountable at the ballot.

So, to lay it all out, we’re up against a right-wing movement that’s more energized and radicalized than ever...

And now, unless enough state, local, and federal officials treat the election security threat with the urgency it demands – and time is running out – it looks like we’ll be up against more foreign interference (from Russia and other foreign actors who will be borrowing from the Russian playbook).
Add that to all the other anti-democratic tactics being employed by Republicans – from voter suppression to gerrymandering – and you can see how much effort, dedication, and grassroots funding it’s going to take to unseat enough Republicans to flip the Senate.
